Storms

About 11am today, there was an amazing thunderstorm with lots of lightening and rain. The students in my class decided that due to the extreme weather they should be released from school 4 hours early. Obviously thunderstorms are too dangerous to be in school during.
What they chose to not think about was the fact that the majority of the students walk to and from school... plus the fact that normally lightening means get inside wherever is closest. They saw the end result (getting home earlier) without thinking about the actual costs.

How often do we do the same in our regular lives? We have hard times and our first response might be "I want to get out of this." We decide to take the route we know, even if it's not the safest or the best for us. Sometimes God calls us to weather the storms of life for a given time. Eventually He'll bring us out of them, but in His timing.

All of the kids got home today, at 3pm as usual, in beautiful weather. Waiting for the storm to pass can be a good choice even if it looks better to take the shortcut.
